Question New; questions about contacts and email

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum and sort of new to Blackberry. Years ago I had a Curve, but I switched over to iPhone when they came out. However, recently the company I work for replaced our dinosaur flip phones with BB Bolds. I have the 9930 version, if that makes a difference.

What an improvement! I have to say I'm pretty impressed with this phone so far; its going to make my job much easier when I have to be away from my office. I do have a few questions, though.

1. I'm receiving my emails on both my laptop, and my BB. When I read them on my laptop, they don't change to "read" on the status. So far, I've been having to open each one a second time to get them cleared off. Is there any easier way?

2. I had my contacts moved from the old phone to this one. I went through afterwards and deleted several that were no longer valid. This morning, they were all back in my contacts. I used delete, then save. Did I miss a step?

3. Every so often I get a brief message that my phone is roaming. That doesn't seem right; I've been in the same area since I had my job and I have never been roaming before. Is there a setting I should check?

4. Oh, and how do I do a screen shot?

Thanks in advance for the help; I'm looking forward to seeing what this phone can do.

Welcome to the forums.

1) Are you connected to a BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES)?

2) Did you delete the contacts from the BB or from your email client on your PC?

3) This would be a question for Sprint. Were the previous phones Sprint devices? Different handsets use different wireless radios, which could attribute to your problem.

4) I use JL_Cmder or BBSAK to take screenshots.

1. I don't know?
2. That didn't occur to me, but I discovered that I did need to adjust them in both places.
3. Yeah, I'll have to contact them if it keeps up.
4. So the BB doesn't just do that? I need some sort of app?

Thanks!!

The answer to #1 is crucial in your quest for information. Contact your IT department to get that answer. If you use BIS or BES, both will (on request, which you can setup in your e-mail setup) synchronize e-mails, but, only the BES will show "read". Both however, can delete mail from the actual mailbox, causing mail on the device and other clients to delete almost simultaneously. BES (and BIS) can synchronize your contacts, and calendars, but BES also does tasks, memo's etc...

Not natively, there are apps you can download to for that function.
