Im supporting a user with a 9900 from Tmobile. I had him do an enterprise activation when he got the device and all went well. The device syncs calendar, contacts, and email.

The problem is with the dialer. Some phone numbers display names that are not in contacts and it is driving him (and me) crazy. It will show a name in the dialer but not in contacts.

I didn't believe him until I checked it myself. For example Suntrust bank's phone number displays in the dialer but it is not anywhere in the contacts. I'm dealing with a very unsophisticated user and aside from the enterprise activation, no other apps, email accounts or address book applications were installed. Any ideas other than doing a complete wipe? The email platform is Exch 2010 on an Intermedia BES.

Network Caller ID from previous incoming calls that are not in the contact list perhaps? I'm guessing it has to be that...

Yes I considered caller ID but not all calls will display caller ID. I should check with Tmobile and make sure though.

No, because some may be blocked, or may not even have a CID. There are many factors that determine whether you'll see a CID or not.

What I'm saying, is that these CID's that don't appear in the device contact list, but do in the call list/ dialer, are probably previous incoming calls stored in history. When the calls came in, they had a CID. The call history stores that CID and when you dial that number or review the history, the CID comes up. This sounds to me like normal behaviour. I really don't see an issue here...
