Kensington PowerBolt car charger Hey guys, I purchased a Kensington PowerBolt Duo Car charger for my USB devices. It has two USB ports: a 1.0A port and a 2.1A port. It works great and charges tablets and other stuff. But it won't charge my 9930! I have tried multiple USB cables. I don't get it, as it clearly provides enough current. The BB wall charger only puts out 0.75A. Any ideas? |
Re: Kensington PowerBolt car charger Yes, get the OEM charger. Most aftermarket chargers will NOT work on a BB. You would have to modify a cable to get it to work and it's just not worth the hassle. |
Re: Kensington PowerBolt car charger ok, with some more research it seems some USB chargers short the two middle pins to indicate that it's an "AC charger" and can provide more than 500mA of current. This is apparently USB spec. Unfortunately Apple doesn't seem to follow this, so many aftermarket chargers that are designed to work with Apple stuff won't work with other components. How frustrating that not everyone follows the same standard. I was hoping to have a single 12V DC adapter that provided USB ports so I could charge a variety of devices. |
