Show my name on caller ID
 

Hi,
I want my name to show on the caller ID screen where I make a voice call. Right now, only the phone number is showing under unknown name.

I know about the restrict identity menu but it doesn't work. What ever setting I choose, the name never shows, only the number.
My network provider says that my full identity setup is enabled and blames it on the phone settings.

Is there a setup in the BB 9900 that will let my name show?

Not that I know of. You either have the option of showing your ID when you call or having it blocked. I do remember that i did have to contact my carrier to get my name changed (what was showing up when I would call)

This is carrier dependent.

Yes. Certain carriers transmit the names and certain carriers don't transmit the names when making outgoing calls.

In Canada for example, Rogers and Fido transmit the names for outgoing calls but Public Mobile, Bell, and Telus don't transmit the names.

Is there anyone in the world who has a BB 9900 that shows your name when you make a call.

Yes. My 9900 on T-Mobile and my 9930 on Verizon both did.

Good. My carrier says that I'm set to show my name and number. They say that some settings in my phone is probably not set correctly. Do you know of any other settings than the RESTRICT MY IDENTITY that I can access to fix my problem?

Negative.

Be aware, however, that your name will only be shown to landline phones with CLID, not other mobiles.

My name never shows anywhere. Not even on landline with CLID. Only my number.

Yep, there is something wrong on the carrier side then. They are the ones that control what gets displayed.

Here is what AT&T offers:


However, if you restrict your identity from the BB, it will not show name or number, and some receivers may reject calls from unknown numbers.

Ask your carrier to block your name on outgoing calls. Sadly T-Mo does not offer this online, maybe I need to call them.

The OP doesn't want to block their name, they want to show it.
