Do you have a an active BlackBerry Data Plan?
Have you done a battery pull?
Have you resent your Service Books?
Have you contacted your carrier to see if there is a tower problem in your area?
As to the trackpad, if the device is new and if the trackpad isn't working properly (and hasn't been damaged physically or by moisture), you should get a replacement.
