Default Password Manager did not carry data to new device

Please Login to Remove!

Greetings and thanks for such a great site - have used search on this topic but have not seen anything relating to it....

Problem is that I have a user that we upgraded BB and when we did the wireless sync the password manager did not send to the new device all the saved passwords. Well, user is quite dependent on this application and has over 100 passwords saved in the old device.

scenario: BB 7750 upgraded to 8703e with two different carriers (T-mobile to Verizon)

I want to know if anybody else has had this happen and have you had any luck getting them off the old device.

if I connect desktop manager on old device - PIN numbers will be different and I risk the possibility of losing data... correct???

Yes, I have this issue with Password Manager as well, even though there is an option to sychronize it wireless, I've never had any of it stay wirelessly.

If you still have the old device, hook it up to the Desktop Manager and backup just the password keeper (you may have to have the user go into the device and pw keeper and turn off the wireless synch), then you can restore it back onto his new device. I've had to do that for several of my users who use pw keeper.

Only issue with this, is you better hope the user doesn't accidently wipe his device, being the pw keeper isn't synched online. Hope that helps,

Thanks for the reply - I wanted to try this but wanted the reinforcement that others have done this sucessfully. I already have pissed off too many people this week and am at my quota.

So if I am on a Mac (I use Missing Sync which I am happy with) but have NO desktop version of BB

What then?

I was daydreaming that Password manager was somehow related to 'service books' and if you ever messed up with it - it could be re-sent to your device.

But I fear not..

Would be a real shame to invest a lot of time into randomly generated passwords that would be impossible to ever remember again - only to lose them all by a) losing your phone or b) upgrading to a new handset

Is there any hope?

(and good luck to the previous poster)

Hmmmm.. I wonder if Mac owners with the new dual boot Macs (that can open as a PC are backing up BB stuff on the PC side of their Mac's??? Must start a new thread on that..)
