Default BB Desktop Software...

Please Login to Remove!

Forgive me if this is too newb, but I have a 8320 w/ BES and hosted Exchange (exchangemymail.com). All seems to work fine (syncing mail, contacts, etc.), except for when I went to install Desktop Software for backing up and installing apps, nothing worked until I removed the software and reset BES. Must have screwed up sync settings somehow... maybe it was the "Desktop Redirector" settings?

BUT, more importantly, I couldn't add applications or files. I got a dialog stating something to the effect of "no more blackberry applications are available" after I would click on the appropriate file in the add program section... I want to be able to back up and upgrade to the new .175, but I gotta get this working. Suggestions?

TIA!

Two things here:

If you told DM you were using Desktop Redirector (incorrect) it would screw up a lot of things.

As has been posted at least ten times in the past few days, you need to do the following:

Download the .175 code (see Main Page - BlackBerryFAQ for details),
Execute the downloaded file,
Locate and delete VENDOR.XML on your PC C: drive
Restart Desktop Manager

I think I must have done that because I just reinstalled and it seems to work fine.

OK, no need for implying that I should have done a search before posting.... My question wasn't about the .175 steps. It was about getting Desktop Manager to work at all.

Thanks for the tip!

Did you do a search? It's been discussed a lot lately that you need both the DM AND the handheld OS code installed to the PC in order to add programs to the device. If you don't want to upgrade to .175 you can download the .170 version from TMobile upgrade site.
