Just wondering if I have my phone (8830 world) set to allow apps to use GPS, will it eat my battery life if those apps arent being used? Ex. Google Maps can find my location, but the app isnt open. The icon is now a rader sign with waves coming out of it.

If the app is running in the background, constantly updating your position, yes, you should expect it to use your battery.
