Is there anyone out there who is using this service to download songs to their Blackberry? I have a BB 8830 with Alltel and am having issues downloading music to it with this service. The songs play all scrambled when I transfer them using a Sandisk 2GB memory card.

I tried a search of the forums with no luck so sorry if I am asking a question that has been covered somewhere else.

What format are you saving the songs to the BB in!

I think that is the issue after playing around with this but I cannot see how to download them to my PC first as a MP3 instead of the Yahoo Music Jukebox file - the Yahoo Music Jukebox engine seems to only allow you to save them in that format instead of MP3.

What about DRM issues. Most providers put a locking seal on their products.

This is the approved formats nonetheless.

BlackBerry audio format

Blackberry does not currently support DRM (digital rights management). You have to own the songs and load them in one of the formats indicated in the link above. I also have Yahoo Unlimited, and with it you are essentially renting the songs one month at a time.....

I am ok with renting the songs month to month if I could transfer them to my BB and download as many as I want every month. I was not aware though when i signed up that you could not do this - bummer.

Well, at least at last check Yahoo only charged $.79 per song, IIRC. That's a deal. I think if you buy them you can specify what format you pull them down in. I've bought a few "must have"s before they were available for rent.

As far as I know, no BB is compatible with any subscription music service. That means you have to convert songs to mp3 format to play on your BB, which also means you need to own the rights to the song. So either you pay the 79 cents from Yahoo or rip any CD's you own. It stinks, but that's all you can do. I'm on Napster to go right now, but using a Creative Zen V plus as my music player. If any BB was compatible with any subscription music service, I'd switch to that one in a hearbeat.
