Default Duplicate messages (email and SMS) This is not a rerun about GMail sent mail!

Please Login to Remove!

No, this is not what you think...I have searched for this but every search returns either posts about the duplicate GMail issue (that requires the rule setup, which I have setup) or BES issues (and I don't have BES, I use BIS).

I have 2 GMail accounts, and I see the 2 envelope icons with the little globe in the corner on my 8700g desktop. I also have the envelope icon WITHOUT the litle globe in the corner for "messages" which is where I receive SMS.

I recently did an upgrade to v4.2.1.107 but this problem existed before the upgrade.

I notice that when I receive an SMS, it shows in the envelope icon called MESSAGES (which is normal), and it doesn't show up anywhere else. If I receive email to one of my GMail accounts, the email is duplicated in the MESSAGES list because it shows up there and in my GMail folder. Is there any way to NOT have this happen? In the Options settings of my Messages feature, there is Email Settings>Message Services, and I see I can choose either one of the GMail accounts setup there...I don't know if this has anything to do with it...it allows me to select ONE of the two email accounts I have, but what if I don't want my incoming emails to be duplicated in my Messages which is where the SMS show up? I feel like I'm talking in circles, maybe I'll try to update this post with a photograph of my desktop.

Thanks guys (and gals)!

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

The message folder displays everything. You can set option to seperate text messages, but email will show in the message folder as well as the individual BIS email folders.

I think I read somewhere that this is normal. I have grown accustomed to ignoring that folder (I moved it to the end of my icons) and when I delete email from other acounts, it disappears from there as well. Best thing to do, is set up different notifications for your different email accounts vs a ding or tone for your sms, that way you'll know which icon you need to go to. Or, setup your short-cut buttons to take you to your email account.

THANKS!!!! Quick replies! I just made a separate folder and placed all the icons that I very rarely use in it....and labeled it "More Apps" I am happy when I have a clean home screen. This was easier than someone else's post of backing up and doing a full wipe, after unloading Service Books...etc. You all are GREAT! I did not like their HIDE function because it just ghosts the icon on the 8320...and I can still see it and it takes up space. So the new folder did the trick! Thanks for all the tips.

I understand the "ghosting" thing but that's just to show you which you selected to hide, then when you enable the hide, those ghosted icons really do "disappear" until you "show all" again.
