Default Blackberry 7130e Unit Reset Problems

I have recently been laid off from the company I was with. I have a 7130e Blackberry. The company allowed me to take the unit with me and transferred the phone number back to me through Verizon.

About a year ago the company implemented a new IT Security Policy that forces the unit to lock if it is not used for 30 minutes. I wanted to reset the unit to the factory settings so that I can have my personal “” e-mail sent to the unit.

I selected the “Wipe Handheld” option (under “Settings”, “Options”, “Security Options”, “General Settings” then "Wipe Handheld") to clear the unit out and return it to the “factory” settings. However, after the unit went through the “Wipe Handheld” process it forced me to input a password. When I went back into the “General Settings” page the company’s IT Policy was still listed at the bottom of the page. The “Password” option under “General Settings” does not give me the option to “Enable” or “Disable” the password. The only change option I have under “Password” is “Change Password”, “Wipe Handheld”, “Verify Security Software”, “Save” and “Close”.

When I talked to Verizon (5 times) about the issue I got several different answers. The first, second and third time I talked to Verizon the answer I was given to my problem was that the company hadn’t taken me off the “BES” yet. On the fourth call, and after I confirmed my removal from the "BES", I was told by the Verizon rep that my former company had to do the following:

1. The company will need to re-add my profile to enterprise server.
2. Once the profile has been re-added, the company has to undo changes (i.e. IT Policy, etc.) to remove all corporate policies.
3. A new “Service Book” will be sent to the unit with a “new” profile turning the unit back into a “standard” Blackberry.
4. Once the new profile has been sent to the unit then the company needs to remove the profile from the BES.
5. I can then “Wipe Handheld” and configure it the way I want.

When I sent this message to my former company the response I got back was as follows:

“At this point it is not feasible to add your device back to the company’s BES since your email account associated with the company has been disabled and no longer in use. When we removed your account from the BES this deleted all associations to your PIN number of the Blackberry. When a device is wiped properly after being removed from any BES the device is set back to factory defaults (just like it was when you received it in the box). If your device for some reason is still attempting to look at the BES then you may try to reinstall the software on the device without backing up any data. If that fails, it appears that you may have a bad device.”

I am now stuck since Verizon can’t do anything and my former company won’t do anything! I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or solutions to my issue?

Well, they are right and wrong. They are right in that your account has been removed and they can't really add you back since you no longer have an email account there. However, they are wrong in that your device is NOT reset back to factory defaults after a proper wipe. IT policy stays no matter how you wipe the device. You'll need to follow the procedure in this thread:
