Default meeting invites automatically accepted

Please Login to Remove!

I've looked all over the God-forsaken Internets (including numerous searches on this forum) for the solution to this problem and can't find a damn thing that speaks to the problem I have. I have found many threads and articles that speak to problems strikingly similar, but not with a fix.

I have a single user -- one of many on the company's BES -- whose Blackberry is automatically accepting meeting requests and adding them to the calendar. Now, if you search here or Google this scenario, you'll find answers for when multiple users are experiencing this phenomenon, but I have it with only one user.

It's as if the meeting request e-mail (with the option to accept or deny) completely bypasses the Blackberry Inbox. On the other hand, Outlook behaves completly normally. The e-mail goes to the Outlook inbox.

But instead of the appointment request getting added to the calendar on a tentative basis (which is what is supposed to happen when you don't immediately respond to a meeting invite), the Blackberry somehow automatically accepts it and marks the time as busy.

Hopefully the y'all can assist...

Our setup:

BES 4.1
Exchange 2003 SP2
Desktop Manager 4.2.whateverthelatestis
Outlook 2003, fully patched and updated
Blackberry 8700c from AT&T/Cingular

Have tried the following:

Upgrading firmware on the BB, completely hard resetting, new Blackberry device (same model), uninstalling Desktop Manager and wiping registry of any RIM entries, reinstalling Desktop Manager.

I will greatly appreciate any info that leads to a fix for this.

Default Accepting meetings automatically...

Sounds like a delegate or the user has the Resource Scheduling in Outlook set to auto accept and process cancellations.

Also, the Tentative acceptance thing is ironically against what Microsoft suggests for a delegate of a user to avoid issues with calendar "corruption" or missing items, which is ultimately what the BES is doing by acting as a proxy to the mailbox. RIM's official response was that they do not allow you to turn that off. Would love to see a registry entry for those that want it off. Can you sense me trying to build some support for it...

Weird. I just noticed the very same thing started happening to me a few days ago, and I'm running BIS.

Its possible your carrier's BIS is being worked on. I've noticed all types of strange things with CICAL on BIS for VZW.
