Default unable to get data plan

Please Login to Remove!

I have searched all over this site and others- with mixed results. I bought a nextel 7520 blackberry on ebay with no sim. I read that I could put my nextel i58sr sim in it, get the data plan activated through nextel, and be in business. It is not working- they say the sim is configured differently, is exclusive to the blackberry, and my i58sr sim will "burn up" my bb, etc. I have read here that this is not true. They also said it is a 128k sim, when I read on here it is a 32K? Anyway, I can't find where I can buy a "blackberry" sim, can't get data service, and am realizing I made a huge mistake. I don't want to promote phone stealing either, so maybe I can just live with this as a learning experience.

The 7520 does require a 32k SIM to work. Here in Canada the iDEN network know as MiKE you can go to a local Telus/Mike dealer and purchase a SIM? Have you tried that with a local NEXTEL dealer in your area?

Thanks for responding- they won't sell me a sim, because they said it promotes phone theft. I've tried lots of nextel centers, also. One girl said "you have to buy a new phone". Another said "that's like selling a car without a motor" (buying a blackberry without sim). I've tried everything, I think.

I bought my car w/o an engine.

Worst case scenario: You can trade it in and get $100 off the cost of a new Blackberry, if Nextel is still doing the trade-in deal.

There is no such thing as a Blackberry specific SIM. They use they standard 32K - grey - SIM cards. Email me directly and I can get it fixed for you.

Thumbs up

There are others in this forum that can get one for you. Try this guy, all else fails trade it in, Nextels deal is on until June 30, 2005. Also, there are good sellers on eBay that can get one, but I would try southwestcomm first since he is a forum member.

I also am a Nextel dealer and have had to do this before for customers.
