Is it possible (settings/3rdparty) to switch/open the "Messages" application everytime a new message comes in?

If you use the holster, and pull your BB from the holster within about 20 seconds of a new message arriving, it will automatically open.

I don't know of a way otherwise. Your notifications will tell you a new message has arrived.

I don't use a holster and pocket my BB instead so I was hoping to find something similar for us holsterless users.

I guess I'll keep with the multi-click-to-open instead.
