Default godaddy, secureserver, and IMAP?

Please Login to Remove!

Was having a duplication issue with my TMobile 8700g and one of my GaDaddy hosted secureserver.net email accounts, so I did a little digging.

TMo BIS sets server as "rimimap.secureserver.net" with IMAP4 protocol.

GoDaddy Tech Service insists they only run POP3 servers.

TMo settings work for the most part, including putting sent messages into sent folder, deleting, and even read/unread sync. Only issue was occasional (inconsistent) duplicated messages.

So I have 2 questions for y'all:

1. If you are using a GoDaddy hosted (secureserver.net) email account on your BB, what is your server setup? IMAP?

2. Can an IMAP client work with a POP3 server?

Thanks!

When my office had godaddy hosted email, I was able to connect to it with just entering my email address and password into the BIS email account setup. No other configuration was necessary.

Mine uses that same imap server and works flawlessly. I wish gmail worked this well hah

WOW! I added a dummy account (test@domain.com) at GoDaddy (really BlueRazor dot com), configured the BB on the TMO website and it worked perfectly!

Now I have not configured the email client side of things to test how well the IMAP really works, but the email arrives in less then 30 seconds on the BB. I wonder why GoDaddy / Blue Razor do not advertise this (other than the usual resource hogs a misused IMAP account can do to servers...)?

Thanks!

It's not that they don't advertise it, It's that they deny it exists!

It has been working nearly flawlessly, with the small exception (perfectly acceptable) of occasional messages being sent twice from one specific GaDaddy account to a Verizon account. I have been unable to duplicate it with other GoDaddy accounts or recipient accounts.

I know, I should leave well enough alone, but when I get a Tech Support response saying "It's Not Possible" in the grandest Dutch fashion, I just have to go "Huh?"

Same with me. I have the email coming to 4 different computers, one a MAC, a BB and an htc TyTnII with no trouble whatsoever. All using the same setup

How is godaddy's email? I have a few domains with them and I'm looking to use their email instead of google hosted.

I forgot I had a 1-yr free mailbox for one of my domains. Anyway I setup via BIS for the godaddy mailbox. I thought it was 2-way sync??

Reads/deletes from BB show on godaddy mailbox, but not from the mailbox to the BB.

I spoke with GoDaddy today regarding this issue and the rep seemed perplexed and also implied that he did not believe they had an IMAP server. He said they had certain "C records" which redirected requests to the domain to alternative servers and that might be where the IMAP confusion began. Anyhow, my client is using a T-Mobile Blackberry and their email account is hosted at GoDaddy. After inputting the correct info at the T-Mobile website the BB worked great, aside from the minor issue of sending out duplicate messages, i.e. - two copies of the sent message would arrive in the recipient's mailbox. To solve the issue I used TMOB's interface but inputted a false email address, [email address]. Once the web interface was unable to resolve the host it gave me the option to manually configure the account settings. Once this screen appeared it was clear sailing. I inputted the correct address, [email address] followed by the correct password and then entered the name of the mail server as mail.domainname.com. This resolved the issue for me and allowed the BB to function as desired. No duplicate messages and send/receive works great.

Nice work. But it still doesn't do 2-way sync like Godaddy mentions in the press release.

So....after I wrote that post, I started to see flakey things happening with my email - so I went back to POP. I thought I posted that here - but it seems as if I got lazy.

Just recently I added a new email addy to my BB and found that TMO automatically (without my intervention) set up my email at BlueRazor.com / GoDaddy.com as

rimimap.secureserver.net
Port 143
NO SSL

See attached for a screen shot.

I think the key to getting this to work is to delete your existing email account and re-add it - and see what happens. NOTE: If you delete your existing email account, you might lose all your existing email on the device - so be forewarned.

So far the IMAPs been real stable and rocks!
