Default Forwarded messages not showing attachments

I did a search, and it seems like I'm experiencing the opposite of some people.

Nextel BB 7520 ... Not on a BES, using BWC. I have my pop3 account set up and it works fine. If someone sends me an email with an attachment to my pop3 account I can read the attachment just fine.

At work, they have Groupwise for email. Since we are not on a BES I have a rule set up in Groupwise to forward all email to my BB webclient account. It does this just fine. The problem is with attachments. My BB will show that there is an attachment, but I can't view it, there is no option to open the attachment. If I log on to BWC with my PC I can see the attachment is there and can click on it and view it.

I ran a couple tests .... I can forward an email from my pop3 account and receive it on my BB and view the attachment. I can send an attachment with Groupwise to my pop3 account and I can view it just fine. It is when I forward from Groupwise that I can't view the attachment on my BB, although it is there on the web client.

I called BB support and they had me delete my service books and resend. That didn't work.

Any ideas?

Sounds like Groupwise isn't forwarding the messages correctly? Not sure if it's possible with Groupwise, but have you tried using the latest Desktop Manager software and using the redirector to forward your messages?

Someone forwarded me an email to my BWC account from Groupwise with an attachment. I got the same message you got, my BB showed that there was an attachment but no way to view the attachment on the BB.

I assume it has something to do with Groupwise since this is the only problem I've had with viewing attachments.

Also, I think that BB redirector does not forward attachments.

I didn't think you could view attachments on non-BES Blackberries.

I can view them just fine, unless they are forwarded from Groupwise. What is strange is the attachment is there when I go into the webclient and I can click on the link and open it on my pc.

BB support had me delete and resend the service book (I didn't think that would fix it, but they had to start somewhere I guess). I still have the same issue. Only emails that are forwarded from Groupwise give me the problem. If they are forwarded from my pop3 account they are fine.

Update - BB support says that when Groupwise is forwarding a message it is changing the format to something that the BB can't read, even though it opens up on the pc just fine and is still showing as a .doc file.

I'll admit, I know next to nothing about Groupwise, but here goes: How is Groupwise sending the message itself? For example: One of my clients uses Groupwise, and the messages always come into Outlook as plain text. (I asked him to send me a .doc, just to see what happens)

Outlook has the option of sending messages in plain text, rich text or HTML. Does Groupwise have something similar that you could play around w/ and test?

I think I've figured out what is wrong, I just don't know how to fix it. When Groupwise forwards a message, it doesn't just forward the message with the attachment like Outlook does. It sends the message and the attachment sort of like an enclosure, or an attachment itself. It's kind of like those forwarded messages you get from people who use Yahoo etc. where you have to open up 32 more messages before you get to the original one. The forwarded message, along with the attachment, is in the file or whatever you want to call it at the end of the message and is called "application.msg". The BB doesn't know how to open up this attachment.

Are there are any Groupwise experts out there that can tell me if there is a way to get Groupwise to forward the message without it being like an attachment I think that will fix the issue.

I added this to your other thread but i'll add it here as well...

You have to add
/FLATFWD
to your gwia.cfg, restart the GWIA, and then blank forwards will go though properly.

Default Attachment won't allow open

I am dying over here, I've been having a similar problem. I receive my emails but my blackberry isn't seeing my attachments. It shows the attachment at the bottom of the email; yet, it won't allow me to "view or open attachment". Also in the email list, it isn't showing the paperclip attachment.

Some help here please...

I talked to our IT guys and they wanted to know if it makes a difference where it goes in the cfg file. I guess it can make a difference on some things as to where you put them??

Groupwise repackages forwarded mail as an attachment - you must set the rule to delegate. Then you can see the messages.
Do a search on this, I wrout a step by step, and someone else commented with a switch for gw admin.

I know this thread is pretty old, but I am having the same issue. Mark, I did a search for the step by step as you stated, but found nothing. Is this procedure something that has to be done at the administrative level in Groupwise? We are currently using Groupwise 6.5
