Question How to disable out of holster auto display of new email messages?

Please Login to Remove!

When my BlackBerry notify me that a new message has arrived, and I take it out of the holster, it auto display the message content. Is there a way to disable this feature, and for me to change it to display list of messages.

Thanks!

There is no way to disable the auto open; I think the only way is to wait about 5 seconds after the alert before removing the BB from the holster.

Wirelessly posted (7290: BlackBerry7290/4.0.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

In theory PocketDay might just overide this , Or maybe some other similiar task viewing app ? ? . Best of luck and let me know if you figure out another way.

Regards,
~

I like it also otherwise I find myself with a deer in the headlight stare trying to decide if it's a message, IM, call or what. Now that's what I hate, when I can't immediately tell why it's going off.

Have you adjusted the alerts? You can set different alert tones for messages, level 1 messages, SMS, browser updates, calendar reminders, tasks, and phone calls.

Even with using Pocket Day the e-mail will still auto open when releasing from the holster.

I don't so much mind the feature. It allows me a quick look to decide if it warrants immediate attention.

Default Disabling auto display

The only way I can think of right now is to remove the magnet, no magnet means no opening the e-mail as it it unholstered, however, you will loose the sleep benefit and that means extra draw on your battery reserves. You have to weight the two and see which one os more important to you. Best of a no win scenario.

Dude, with my memory it was a complete waste of time. I kept changing the different alerts then when I finally got a live request I could never remember what tune it was for. Most of them sound very similar to me. That's why I need something that alerts me when it needs attention then sticks the reason it alerted right up in my face. The ultimate would be if it kept alerting me until I noticed that it's alerting me.
