Angry HELP - Outlook deleted items folder and BB reconciliation

Please Login to Remove!

Is there any solution to this where we can empty someone outlook deleted items folder and not have the below problem. Users will never reconcile evrey time they delete.

It takes the Blackberry between 5-20 minutes before it reconciles deleted emails. In outlook, if you delete emails in your deleted items folder before the blackberry reconciles then it will not delete those emails from your blackberry, you do so you will have to manually delete them from you blackberry. If you cannot wait the 5-20 minutes you can request the blackberry to reconcile immediately by doing the following: click on the 'messages' icon, click on any message, scroll to and click and 'reconcile now'. In a few seconds your blackberry will be reconciled.

Are you saying that users will delete emails from their Outlook inbox, then before the actual device can reconcile with the mailbox, the user empties their Outlook deleted items? Also, to clarify, do your users have full wireless sync enabled? What's version BES? Do your users still use Desktop Manager?

Yes it can be a learning curve for some users... I send out a reminder sheet to new BB users, that reminds them (among other things) that when deleting messages using Outlook, the messages must go to "Deleted Items" and stay there long enough to reconcile. I find a lot of people hard delete message (shift+delete) and thus bybass "Deleted Items", or they delete a bunch of email, then immediately exit Outlook and empty "deleted Items" in the process.

I have found that it is pretty rare for people to run into problems with this, most people dont use the shift delete function or empty their deleted items...often

Also be aware for the option to have Outlook empty the deleted items folder on exit.
#1 don't shift delete in Outlook - Ever.
#2 reconcile before emptying deleted items
#3 check that 'empty deleted folder' option is not set in Outlook.
>> Be sure email configuration is set to Synchronize + mailbox wins.

if the message flag has been removed from the users mailbox before a reconciliation the Blackberry will make no changes to the message on the handheld and manual deletion is the only option left.
