Default Email Help.

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all.

I am new to BlackBerrys and have a slight problem.

My college does not provide a smtp server for off campus students. They say, "If you are off-campus, contact your ISP for the "Outgoing mail server" information."

-Does anyone know an SMTP server I can use to send my @njit.edu email from?
-Is there a blackberry SMTP i can use?
-Will the address remain [email address]?

Thanks.

You don't need an SMTP outgoing server for BB outgoing mail. At the setup, just put in your username and password.

Hello again,

I just tried adding the email account by inputing the email address and password and it told me:

"We were unable to configure [email address]. Choose one of the following options and select Next."

When I try to input the information manually it continually tells me 'An Error Occured During email account verification'...

Any help?

Your university or school is likely on an enterprise server then. Your best best may be to autoforward you school email to something like a gmail address, and have that configured to the BB. You can set the BB to have the school email address as the reply to address, etc.

You should check with your IT support whether they provide an IMAP server. If they do, and this is available from outside the campus, then it may be that BIS isn't picking this up correctly. If so, try entering your password incorrectly in account set-up, and this will allow you to fine-tune the BIS settings.

I have set up the forwarding, which works but i would prefer not to use it because there is a time delay. But If I have to then it is fine, thanks for the help. However, they do have an IMAP server i can access off campus... What should I do with this.

-Thanks.

This is very funny because I was looking for help with setting up my personal email to blackberry. Oddly, I stumbled upon this thread, which to no one's fault, assisted my issue.

I also attend NJIT and can not get my email @ njit.edu to setup on my blackberry. I personally think it is a problem with the university because I have been on the phone with AT&T support for countless hours ripping my hair out.

If anyone has a solution please let us know.

Thanks.

Apparently they are on an exchange server or Outlook Web Access... I don't know enough about either to guide you with what you need.

My simple suggestion is to create a GMAIL account for this email only, and forward it all to the Gmail account, which you will them set up on your BB.
