Default Google Apps/Hosted Email Solutions

This is more of an email question than a blackberry question, but I figured I would come here for some advice since Google doesn’t offer too much support.

I have 2 domains hosted through Google apps. Before I used the domain names I was depending on gmail and was very happy with the reliability and speed to my blackberry. Recently my email through Google apps has been arriving very slowly or not at all and the catch all email doesn’t work very often either.

I would switch to Yahoo, but I think they charge by the mailbox per month and I plan on adding 20 mailboxes in the future.

Is there any other services for BIS that are as fast as gmail and yahoo that are not too expensive? Any advice is much appreciated.

Default hosted email

I have hosted email through Intermedia. So far I haven't had any problems and it's not too expensive.

I have a free account from Fastmal.fm (fastmail.net), they offer IMAP access for free and all that jazz, for a small fee you can host domains their too just like Google. I'm not using it fulltime yet but I *really* like their webUI, you can configure so much stuff it's silly. Sign up for a free account and give it a testdrive...

FastMail: fast, professional email services with web, SMTP, POP & IMAP access -> top right corner 'Sign Up', choose Guest account (free)

After having an account you can just upgrade to add more features (like the domain aliasing, advanced virus/spam checking, etc.), but it works well as just a generic account. It can do all the other GMail type features (collecting mail from other accounts, etc.) and in fact the Rules (filters) on Fastmail blow away Google (you can't even filter on a CC/BCC in gmail, what's up with that? lame.).

Anyways, $0.02. I love my hosted domain with Google but it has serious shortcomings.

I used Yahoo for about two years and recently canceled the plan to switch to Google Apps. The Yahoo service was reliable but not without its quirks. I was paying roughly $120 per year for up to 10 email accounts with unlimited storage. I've found the Google hosted email to be better. I haven't had any problems with delivery to either the BB or Outlook and I think the search features on the web access are far superior to Yahoo. I would venture that any problems you are encountering are resolved fairly soon.
