Unhappy Want to love my BB, but was I spoiled by Windows Mobile sync?

Please Login to Remove!

Just got my BB Pearl 8130 yesterday (Verizon; hosted Exchange w/BES; Win XP desktop). So slick! And so glad to leave the flaky behavior of my Windows Mobile 5 Samsung i730 behind! But I can't make my email workflow work on the BB. Help would be much appreciated!

Office workflow: 100-200 emails arriving daily. With my laptop, I either delete or reply, and in many cases drag the messages to a folder in a huge (1-2GB of space, 100s of subfolders) offline PST file. Hey, my memory's going and I need to refer to this stuff later. And it would bloat an OST file to death.

Mobile workflow: I just need to delete or reply to urgent emails. Happy to leave the rest in the inbox until I'm back in the office for the filing chore.

Issue: When on the laptop I drag emails from the inbox to the PST, they don't disappear from the BB inbox after a reconcile. BB/BES only picks up deletions? I've checked the forum, studied folder redirection, hide filed messages, etc, but it looks like there's no way to automatically remove emails from the inbox when you drag them to a PST on your desktop. Is this true?

Don't some of you BB users archive their emails like I do? Did I get spoiled by Windows Mobile, which syncs your desk and mobile Inbox 100%? I dread going back to blue screens of death. Can my new marriage to the BB Pearl be saved?
Thanks in advance!

You need to get your BlackBerry Administrator to enable Hard Deletes on the server. That's the only way to do what you want to do. They may be reluctant to do so because the setting affects everyone.

Why not set up a BIS mailbox (such as your hotmail account) and just forward to there.

Thanks, Moleman2k. We're on a hosted exchange service, hosted BES too, w/Rackspace.com so I don't know if I can get that option, but I'll find out and post back. I'll bet others migrating from Windows Mobile devices are getting the same shock.

It sounds like you need to set Hide Filed Messages and learn to love Delete Prior
