Unhappy Please help

I have an unlocked Blackberry 7290.
I have put my orange sim in it and it works fine as a phone.
I get data connection refused and "gprs" showing.
Orange UK do not offer a consumer Blackberry service.

Is there any way I can get this working without this service, i.e. using Desktop Redirector or something ?

What is the best thing to do ?
I'm only half way through my current contract woith Orange so I really don't want to move just now.

Is a hosted BES an alternative or would I still need to be with a provider that supported Blackberry ?

Thanks.

Until they (Orange) add a BlackBerry Data Service plan to your account, the BlackBerry will not work as an e-mail device under any conditions.

If I have GPRS and an email client why can I not just send and receive email manually they way I would with my Treo or PocketPC ?

You won't get to GPRS without a BlackBerry Data Plan.
