Default Hosted BES... Best Price... Recommendations... Dont use... - 11-24-2007, 10:48 PM

Hello All,

I am thinking of going back to Blackberry. Right now, and for the last few years, I have been using a PPC with a hosted exchange for my PIM stuff. I dont work for a company with a blackberry server and will really miss my contacts, callendar, and task, being synced like it does now.

I am looking for a blackberry hosted exchange that doesn't cost me an arm and a leg. I know the "exchangemymail" is a sponser here that will run me like $20 - the BBF discount.

Is there anything cheaper?
Is there something one of you guys use that you would like to recommend? Any hosted exchanges that I should stay away from?

I dont want to go so cheap that it doesn't work half the time.

FWIW... I am looking into the sprint pearl with the $30 BIS plan, but it doesn't seem that I can get the hosted exchange on BIS. If that is the case I will have to spend $40 for sprint BES plan and then another $20 for exchangemymail. That's $40 more than I spend now for the same service. I just want the blackberry because it is more reliable phone than the PPC's.

Thanks for any help, Cody

I agree on themessagecenter.com. They are great. I actually spoke to the owner when I first was looking into the issue.

You can see a bit about what I was comparing here:
ADVICE NEEDED: Who Offers The Best BES / Exchange Hosting? | BerryReview

I used to use exchangemymail.com but their 200mb storage limit does not hold a candle to the 1GB given for the same price at themessagecenter.
Also themessagecenter does not have a activation fee of $40 like exchangemymail. They also have no cancellation fee. They also seem to have a better version of Postini that will allow you to get daily reports with the headers of all your junk mail instead of just the alert that exchangemymail gives you

The upside of exchangemymail is that they are fervent BlackBerry supporters but I experienced quite a few planned outages compared to themessagecenter where I have not had even 1 planned outage in the few months.

Also Exchangemymail offers a much nicer control panel based on SWsoft compared to themessagecenters homegrown control panel. This is more of a tie since there are a couple key things you can do with each control panel that you cannot do with the other.

Personally I tried themessagecenter out just because they do not have any activation fee so there was no real big risk. The price is also almost exactly the same at 18.95$

PM me if you have any questions

I use Intermedia as my Exchange service provider and their service up time has been great. The price is right and the service/support couldn't be better.

Look at Mail2Web.com Free exchange and inexpensive BES. I use ExchangeMyMail. They are the best. I was using Mailstreet but they got very slow and support was...les just say not as good as ExchageMyMail. Good Luck

I use a Canadian based company called Sherweb.

SherWeb - Hosted Exchange

They offer 3GB Mailboxes for $8.95 USD a month and BlackBerry sync is an additional $9.95 per month with a one time $29.95 activation fee for the BlackBerry service.

There are literally no email delays and I find that when I'm sending and receiving emails the recipients receive them almost immediately.

there are a lot of affordable BES hosting plans out there. personally my team and i have been using Intermedia to host ours because we already had our general exchange mailboxes setup through them. it's worked well so far.

be sure to do your research before choosing a provider. we're using intermedia for exchange in the office and on our phones and we love it.

What are the benefits of a hosted BES over Yahoo, which syncs calendar and contacts, and is free?

BES will sync wireless, compared to started the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and manually synchronizing.

Is there any way to have someone host the Blackberry Server without them also hosting my Exchange Server?

I do not believe so because BES works with Exchange or Lotus Domino (IBM). The BES is pretty much like the middle man fowarding email from the Mail Server to the BlackBerry Handheld.

Really far too many to list here. Have you checked the FAQ? I think it covers everything.

Another one for themessagecenter.com I have been with them for over 2 yrs now. Also got a free copy of outlook 2007. Have only experienced probably 1 or 2 downtime in the past 2 yrs which is pretty much perfect in my eyes. And their support is fantastic and fast.

Does anyone know if The Message Center supports MAC and entourage? I couldn't find it on their website.
