This is probably the most under-rated thread ..

This feature is so annoying that you cannot disable it.

All i did was what John Clark said .. go into the COMMON FILES and remove the VOD files and then run the add/remove all the way to finish and it automatically updates it and reboots the phone.

It solved my Media player skipping issue too.

You can then swap the SIM with that of another carrier and use the device on any compatible network. It's also great for traveling internationally - you can use local phone services and bypass the exorbitant international rates charged by US carriers.
