Hello All,

I'm a veteran Palm/PocketPC user but a new Blackberry guy (7290 on T-Mobile) Concerning the screen, does it blank off on its own or is there a way to turn off the screen without turning off the wireless device as a whole? On a typical PDA or PDA Phone, you press the power button to turn the screen off (but leave the phone on) - basically you are putting it in standby. But on the 7290, it appears the screen is always on. It will turn off the backlight and you can throw up a T-Mobile logo as a sort of screensaver based on the settings in Options/Screen-Keyboard. But thre doesn't appear to be a way to just turn off the screen without turning the device completely off - including wireless.

Am I missing something here or is this the way it works on Blackberries? I know they are "always on" devices, but I didn't think it meant the screen too Isn't screen burn a problem over time?

Sorry for such a basic question here, buit I searched here and in Google and I can't finds a word about screen blanking. Thanks...

The screen turns itself off when the device is holstered.

Additionally the 7100 series phones will autoblank the screen automatically even if not holstered.

Thanks all for answering...So, that's the only way to turn it off? I don't really use the holster. That's weird. Seems like an unnecessary waste of battery to power a screen that's not being looked at.

I had had an O2 BB 7100X (same as any other 7100 but with O2 housing) and you can hit the top power button to turn the screen on or off; with or without the holster.

Mine was a prototype from O2; might not be the case in the production model, I can check tomorrow.
