Unhappy Newbie...unsure how to proceed

Ok so here is the thing....very new to the blackberry scene.

Here is our email situation at work.

Run Exchange 2K3. Only use it for internal mail. Our domain mail [email address] is housed with our ISP. The outlook clients at work download the pop mail on a per user basis as a seperate account in outlook. Will eventually house our own but for now that is the way it is. The internal mail has a reply address that uses our domain address...so it doesn't matter what account is chosen in outlook when you send or reply to an email.

So I have installed the redirector software on my computer. Is that all I need to do to receive email on my handheld? I only want to receive it when I go home for the weekend. I hear that I have to leave my outlook open and running at work to be able to use email when I am away. Am I correct in thinking this? Do I need to set up a rule that shoudl eb turned on when i leave the office to forward my mail to my BB? So woudl this rule (if needed) have to say forward all mail to [email address] or whatever address I set up when I register my BB? I am a little lost on this push email thing.

So when I come back into work on Monday and I hook my BB up to my desktop will all the emails be synch'd with my outlook when I do a synch?

I only want the emails to go to my blackberry when I am away from the office...and need to know the easiest way to do this. Are contacts different from address book? I have 2 contact lists in my outlook ...one is 99% email contacts and the other I use when I used to synch to my phone...so they have only phone numbers...I find it hard to dial a contact right now with this BB...any help woudl be greatly appreciated...sorry for the long post

I think Desktop Manager has an option to disable delivery of email to your Blackberry when it is connected to your computer. If you can remember to connect it when you're in the office that would be the easiest way to control email delivery.

Synching your Blackberry does not sync email. Email is pushed to your Blackberry as soon as it is received. Synching will sync address book/contacts, calendar, memos/notes and tasks. Intellisync will only sync your Contacts folder in Outlook by default. If you want it to synch another folder, you'll have to switch to that folder or add it in Intellisync. I highly recommend setting up Intellisync to sync with whichever contact folder has email addresses and phone numbers (both).

There are several ways to dial phone numbers. One is to select a contact in your address book and then choose what number to call. Another is to go into the phone app or press the phone button on top of your Blackberry and use the call log to dial from the recent phone numbers list. I generally only need to use the latter.

Thanks for the reply. Ok...so I have to remember to turn the rule on in outlook to forward all mail to my wirelessfree email address when i leave work...that is the only way I can think it will receive pop email. So there is no way to keep email synch'ed on my BB and my outlook....when i get an email on the weekend it will be on teh BB only....so have to reply to it from teh BB?

Should I be setting my default sent from address on teh BB web site to be my isp account or my wirefree account? I guess it woudln't matter if I have the outlook rule set up. Is there a way in outlook to automatically have this rule be applied at a specific time each day? Seems liek it will be a pain to try and remember each day to do this....
