Is there an EASY way to mute the speaker BEFORE establishing a Nextel Direct Connect call?

I know I can go to options-push to talk- then select speakerphone and turn it off there. I can easily mute the speaker with the speaker/symbol button after I establish the call. Sometimes I would prefer to avoid the loud DC noise at the outset.

GRR, that ticks me off.

The best work around I have so far is to swap to the vibrate or quiet mode, and then DC. I can do that swap faster.

With mine (7520) if it is in the holster even when people do talk can't hear them till it is out of the holster. I set it to vibrate for DC in the holster.
Than when I take it out if needed hit the speaker button.

thats the way i have mine set to but if I am somewhere I dont want to make much noise but still use the DC it sucks you cant mute the beep beep first.

I set up a new profile with everything the same as the one I use all the time, except DC/GC is set to TONE, which activates the speakerphone. I moved the profile icon to the first position of line 1. I can now turn on the DC speakerphone before starting a DC conversation without even looking. (roll click wheel up, brings cursor to 1st icon, click, roll click wheel down, brings selection to last entry, which is my DC speakerphone on profile, click twice to enable). RIM & Nextel should really FIX the speakerphone button to work as all other Nextel phones so that when you press it it goes from off to on or on to off.
