Default What is SOS

When EDGE/GSM and UMA are unavailable I see the letters SOS on the top of my 8320. What is this? It seems that I get emails through it but I can't text through it. I did try my browser and didnt get the TMO home page but a Blackberry page. Will I be charged for this? It seems I can do certain data things on it but I can't make calls or text.

SOS is short for Save Our Ship! Basically means only emergency calls are available ie 911

SOS means that your BlackBerry can only make emergency calls. It can find a tower, but your SIM card is not authorized to use that tower. But emergency calls are permitted.

SOS means you can only make emergency (911) calls.

Why is it that when im in SOS I can get emails and not make calls. Of course I wouldnt want to make calls because of roaming fees. Im just wondering if I will be charged for my emails coming through SOS

I'm surprised you receive emails. What Mobile Network Provider are you connected to when you can receive emails?

Its under Manage Connections, then Services Status.

AT&T When I go into the Browser it picks up data and starts working but the home page isnt the usual T-Zones page when on Tmo network it's a blackberry Home page. I don't want to further surf on sos because of fear of a HUGE bill

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend browsing. I thought you were getting BB push emails which wouldn't be controllable.
