Default Convert from Windows Mobile...Synq question

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I recently was switched from a Verizon Samsung i700 Windows Mobile 2003 to a Blackberry 7100t from T-Mobile. I've had it for a few months and love it so far, but there is one limitation that is quite frustrating and I'm not sure if it's a limitation of Blackberry or a limitation of our particular setup.

We are running Blackberry (not 4.0, the release before, 3.8 maybe?) on Exchange 2003 and my particular phone is running the 4.0 client software.

OK, the problem is if I add or update an appointment in my calendar, or add/update a contact, it will only update the phone. It will not wirelessly or even by manually syncing, update the server. I brought this to our admin and she said that's how Blackberry is designed to work. I find it hard to believe that a device that promotes electronic mobility is designed to not accept changes automatically from the mobile device.

With my WM2003 device, I could update calendar or contacts and it would wirelessly sync the server. I can't believe that the king of wireless syncing, Blackberry, cannot do the same thing, or even by manually syncing.

Thanks in advance!

Something's wrong with your infrastructure setup. If you're running BES 4 with Exchange it should be updating your calendar inside a minute of a change in either Outlook or on your Blackberry (assuming two-way sync is turned on in BES, but that's the default.)

There's your problem. BES 3.6 only supports wireless calendar and email synchronization. Once upgraded to BES 4, you'll be able to sync address book, memo pad, and tasks wirelessly, too.

Thanks very much for the info. We're supposed to be upgrading to 4.0 any time now.
