Question Pre-newbie Seeking Plan Advice

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I havent actually yet purchased my BB, but am just wowed by all I'm reading!

I'm looking at getting two 7290's for myself and my wife, on a deal being offered with 100% rebate on a $60 plan with Cingular. But my concern is that part of the reason I want to get them now is I'll be headed overseas soon for some months and want to use the BB's to stay connected (phone, SMS, email) with my wife who is remaining here.

I gather I'll need some sort of global roaming option, but I'm quite lost in that area. So I thought I'd ask these extremely helpful forum-folks for their input.

Also wondering if I can buy a bluetooth adaptor for my notebook and then use the BB to connect to the laptop wirelessly when I'm at home? Any thoughts on that would be much appeciated too

Thanks and stuff

Global roaming on a 7290 is great - assuming a few things. You must make sure when you set up the plans that International roaming and dialing is included. That's easy.

After that, you can check on Cingular's web site to see if they have a specific BlackBerry roaming agreement in the country you are going to. UK/Western Europe is great - almost every country supports the BlackBerry. SE Asia is excellent also. But you have to check by country so there are no surprises.

As far as using a Bluetooth adaptor for your notebook, the answer is no, not at this time. For now, the 7290 is limited to wireless headsets/audio and a few new wireless Bluetooth keyboards. No other data transfers via Bluetooth.
