| Why isn't there a BES-specific icon on my Curve? Newbie asks for help! Please Login to Remove! Hello all,
I am brand new to Blackberry (except for a short run with a pager-style device back in the 90s), so I ask you to forgive me if this is a really dumb question. I have searched around here and elsewhere and haven't been able to figure this out.
I just got a Blackberry Curve 8310 from AT&T, and I'm very happy with it so far. I went through the Enterprise Activation steps that my IT guy gave to me, which basically amounted to running the Setup Wizard and entering my email address plus a password. I am now fully synced with my Exchange server, and things are working great.
However, something is a little weird. On the main menu screen I have the "Messages" icon and directly after it is the "Phone" icon. I noticed when I added gmail to my device that a gmail specific icon showed up after Messages which was very convenient. My question is: why isn't there a BES-specific icon between Messages and Phone? When I get an email on my Exchange server, it just pops into Messages and is mixed in with all my SMSs and other emails. I would really like an icon where I could go in and just see my BES mail, just I can with my gmail account.
I looked on my friend's phone last night and saw that he did have an icon specific for his BES account but I can't figure out how to turn it on anywhere. Does anyone have any advice for me on this?
Some other info: before I did the enterprise activation I used the Blackberry Desktop software to transfer some media onto my device. I did not set it up to do desktop forwarding but some message did pop up on my computer about this. When I go to Settings -> Options -> Advanced -> Default Services, "Desktop" shows up as the default messaging option. What is the deal with this? I'm not using the Desktop for messaging. Did I mess something up when I used my Blackberry Desktop software for media sync? How can I fix this?
Thanks everyone!
