Default Received my BlackBerry....in need of assistance.

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, guys, I need some help.

I finally received my BlackBerry 8700C. I could for nothing get Desktop Manager to install on my Laptop (running vista.), so I went ahead and installed it on a Desktop in my home. It installed successfully.

First off, my Blackberry says "Data connection Refused." Which I'm assuming is due to to the fact that I don't have the Black Berry Data plan yet. I do, however, have a "generic" data plan with 1GB internet access that I want to use on the BlackBerry untill I upgrade to the new plan.

I downloaded a few Apps to the Desktop and they are all in .Jad and one is in .alx file. Now, I connect the Blackberry to the computer, it regonizes and goes smooth. I click on Application loader and attempt to load one of the apps.

i get an error and it says "No additional applications designed for your device were found."

On the bottom it says "Total application space: O K"

If I attempt to load a .jad file the eror i receive is "Error in application information "C:\location on my computer\App.jad There is no XML Syntax error on line 1."

Gah, I'm getting quite frustrated. Can anyone help me? It'd be much much appreciated.

Thanks,
Cam

1. correct... Data Connection Refused? - BlackBerryFAQ
2. check this: Application Loader Error - BlackBerryFAQ
All apps loaded by PC must be *.alx format. Jad and jar are for over the air, since you don't have a BB Data Plan, you can't do.

Read throught the FAQs, you'll learn a lot, less frustration.

And ask back here if needed!

Thanks for the help.

I'm just curious how to install a browser such as Opera Mini.... if it's a .jad file or such?

either way... when you get the OM website, it is evident.

Good luck.

I'm sorry for so many questions...... but I'm still having issues.

I uninstalled the version of Desktop Manager I had on the Desktop, and installed the same version as the OS on my BB. I attempted to load up a .alx file, but I received the error "No additional applications designed for your device were found."

I think this is due to the Total Application Space saying 0 K.....

You don't need the same version of the DM as the version of the OS.

make sure you have the OS loaded to the BB.

There are three elements required to make this work:

1- Desktop Manager installed to your PC.
2- The OS on your blackberry must be installed on your PC.
3- An application with an ALX extentions must be downloaded to your PC.

there should be an ADD button when you bring up App loader. Click that, navigate to your ALX files and select one. This should que it to install after you click next

I really hate to be blunt but ..... Get a BB dataplan and most of the problems you are having will go away. If you don't get one, then you will continue to have "issues" and complain about the device.
