Default Lotus Notes Email wireless sync problem

Please Login to Remove!

My email sync does not appear to be working properly. When I delete an email on the BB it does not delete in my Lotus Notes Inbox. Likewise, when I delete from the Inbox the email does not delete in the BB. Also, when I open an email in the Lotus Inbox or BB shouldn't the BB or Lotus Inbox show it as opened?? Mine doesn't.

Here is the setup I'm working with:
Lotus Notes 6.5
BES
Blackberry 7290

Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Is Wireless E-Mail Reconciliation enabled on your device ? (Messages/Options/Email Reconciliation)

How are you deleting the message from the handheld? Are you deleting on Handheld & Mailbox, or Handheld Only?

If you're using 'Delete Prior', those deletions will not reconcile back to Lotus Notes.

Additionally, deletions from the Handheld can take up to 20 minutes to reconcile back to Lotus Notes.

Yes,

I do have the Wireless Reconcile set to ON.

I've got the Delete set to: "Wireless & Handheld".

What is the "Delete Prior" that you've mentioned?? Also, the funny thing is that my calendar syncs both ways with out a problem. Email doesn't...

You can highlight a date (not a particular message) in the Messages application and when you click it, you have the option to 'Delete Prior'. It will delete all messages prior to that date you selected.
Since you're unaware of it... that answers my question about you using this method to delete messages.

If you delete a message on the handheld, and then choose 'Reconcile Now' from the menu in the Messages app... does the deletion get reflected in your Lotus Notes mailbox ?

As an added FYI... e-mail never SYNCS with anything. It reconciles. You can reconcile wirelessly, or via the USB cable.

Yes this works!! Great, but do I have to always manually hit the 'Reconcile Now' for this feature to work?

Also, unfortunately, the messages that I opened on my BB did not show as opened in my Lotus Inbox after I hit 'Reconcile Now'. Should it have?

You shouldn't need to hit reconcile now every time. That function just forces an immediate reconciliation. If you don't use that function, I think it auto reconciles every 15-20 minutes. Basically, if you delete something from the handheld... be patient... and about 15-20 min later it will disappear from your Lotus Notes mail file.

As far as the showing the messages as read in Lotus Notes... I've always felt this was hit or miss. Sometimes it works, sometimes no.
Maybe someone else can provide a better answer on that topic.

Since we upgraded to BES 4 and R65x unread marks are working like a charm now. Just make sure that you upgrade your mail file to ODS 43 and then you'll have an extra option on syncing unread marks across replicas, etc.

If you bring up the properties of the database, under the I column you'll see what "ODS" version you are running, I forget what the O stands for, but it's the data store. If you are R65, you can do an ncompact -K on it and it will change it to eh newer ODS.

ODS = On Disk Structure

Thanks! On Disk Structure makes sense, I ket thinking Oracle Disk Store, but that has nothing to do with Lotus Notes

Default Lotus Notes Deletion Issue

I thought about starting a new thread, but my question is slightly related to the original:

I have a 7100g that is reconciling with Note R6 through a BES (unsure of version other than < 4.0 - it is in another state).

Wireless reconciliation works fine for me and my users except documents don't truly get deleted. They disappear from the unit and Inbox, but if you go to the "All Documents" view, the message is still there.

This causes a storage headache because now I need to instruct users how to delete their e-mail that they have already deleted once. Space is an issue and their e-mail db's are suffering from bloat.

Is there a setting that I missed somewhere along the way? Is this a known issue with no fix?

I'm hoping to have a solution to provide to the users (and the boss) before I spring that they need to delete these messages again.

TIA.
