This looks like a tool hackers can use to make people's lives a mess if it can be configured to access a cell phone. I think a BES can remotely clean a BB out anyway.

The BES is the best option hands down. Keep in mind BES Express still is free for 1 user if you want the security of remote backup/wipe

Agreed BES is best way but not everyone has BES though for a small fee they could.

Just thought it was a neat option, Not necessarily the best but a method nonetheless

i agree, i had an extra computer laying around and because of a friend in the MSDN i was given SBE 2003 server with exchange built in. I should have read through the setup for the BES before going through all of that work, but i did get it set up.
