Ahaaaa....the problem was that T-mobile hadn't actually linked my online account to the BB, maybe because I was already hooked up with the Sidekick. That's why I was unable to access email settings. When I chose "Phone and Accessories" I was asked to indicate which phone I'm using, and after that I could get to settings. Thanks for the help!
