Question Nextel & Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

I searched this website for any relevance, but didn't find anything that I was looking for, currently, Nextel has two blackberry phones. Now, this is just nextel alone, since sprint phones can not be on a nextel phone contract.

Anyway, is there any rumor to Nextel having any new blackberry phones in the next year and a half?

The 7520 has been discontinued, so technically they only have 1 Blackberry.

Post CDMA Sprint

Hi...

I just setup two Sprint BB devices at work. They have the shell of the 8700 chassis but are CDMA, no sim card. The shell is black and has the general functions and buttons of the 8700 series... We use Nextel, AT&T and Verizon at work...

H.

They are called the 8703e and have no relevance to the Nextel iDen network.

Dawg - I'm surprised there were even any rumors!

I recently "moved" one of our Nextel phones to the Sprint network. Of course, the phone equipment had to be replaced but Sprint honored the contract without any problem.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

iDen is a dying technology! I would be surprised if any new BBs are developed/released for Nextel

well iDen still has some very small networks elsewhere in the world. in 2 to 3 years though the government is going to take it over here, not likely to have another device released.

I agree with you all about that, I am just telling you what I heard on a sprint podcast about new RIM devices with direct connect. I wish I still had the link. It mentioned smart phones and then it mentioned RIM as well.

Dawg, you are correct. the qchat services *whenever they comes out* i am sure will be on a blackberry, though it will run on the CDMA network rather than the iDEN. Its supposed to be a hybrid of Direct Connect and Ready-Link.
