I'm a little confused by the listing of compatible phones and carriers. I have a 8130 (Pearl) and am on the Verizon network. In the documentation, it has the following listed "Model 8100 Pearl: Success (T-Mobile)". Does that mean that with 8100's (specifically the 8130) that are on the Verizon netowork, this will not work? I'm further confused because in the documentation it also lists the following "Carrier Verizon: Sometimes Successful".

I was thinking about following the instructions this morning, in an effort to see if my 8130 will work as a modem. However, I really don't want to spend a lot of time doing so if it's already been tried and found not to work.

You can use the Pearl as a modem with Verizon. You have to download the software from Verizon but you'll have to pay $15 per month extra for the tether option on your account. I use my Pearl as a modem all the time. I doing it right now. However I don't pay extra with Sprint.
