Default using blackberry handheld as dial-up modem

I have a 8700 with T-mobile. I followed the instruction I found on the website and made my blackberry as a modem. I was able to get on the Internet. But the speed is very slow. Using some 3rd party speed test software the fasetest speed I got was 48 kbps. Most of the time it was about 20-30 kbps. Some people mentioned they could get about 400+ kbps. I spoke with T-Mobile tech support. They told me that with EDGE network the max speed I can get is 144 kbps. And the device doesn't make much difference. Here are my questions:

1. for 8700g what is the max speed it can support with EDGE network?
2. Is it possible to make it a little faster than 30 kbps? I'll be happy if I can get 100 kbps.

this is the instruction I used for configuration. I'm using XP Pro SP2.

Thanks.
