Default Marking/prioritizing a single message/email?

Please Login to Remove!

Is there a way to mark an email on your device to make it stand out from all the others? I receive a daily digest (see iwantsandy.com) and want to refer back to it during the day but it is often difficult to find amongst all the other messages and emails. It would be nice to be able to mark it somehow. Thanks for any suggestions.

That would be a "Level 1 Message". Create a filter to foward email from that address as a Level 1 Message.

Doesn't that just sound a different alert when you receive the message or does it mark it also? Thanks.

The message also shows up in the color red.

An option I use, is to Save the email that I want to get back to easily...I save few emails, so my "Save" folder is almost empty.

mmm, I tried it but it came as a regular message this morning. Could it be a setting on my blackberry? I use BIS and went to the website and placed a filter for a message with the appropriate header. I don't want to set it from that particular email address because I get multiple messages from them during the day. I'll keep playing around with it.

By the way, has anyone else tried this service?

I can't see what you are using, tgeekb. On older OS's, level one will be bold. But you may need to play with the filter on BIS if you are not getting level one indications at the blackberry..

No. I want sandy. You can send emails from your blackberry which produce events, reminders, lists, todo's which are sent to your device as an email at the appropriate time. It even sends it to my iCal calendar on my laptop. Sandy is like a personal assistant who sends your notifications via email in a personal way like a real person had done it. It's beta right now and free. Don't know how long it will stay that way.

Well, I have an 8100 and a 8800. I couldn't get it to work on the Pearl so now I'm trying the 8800 (4.2.1). Same thing. I went to the AT&T BIS and set a filter to recognize this particular header and it won't work. Maybe I'll try a different filter. I'm sure once I get it working I'll be like "DUH!"

I have filters on email from a domain and emails from full email address. No personal experiance with anything else, but do recall someone having trouble filering on just the username of an address. So I can see possibility of trouble filtering on subject. Let us know what you figure out.

Nice. I have on call responsibilities here at the office 2 weeks out of the month, and I missed an on call last night at 1 am because it just vibrated when it came in. We have a separate on call phone, but it's a pain to carry around two phones, and I look like more of a geek than I really want to, so... I set up our off hours support mailbox to forward to my BIS contact in active directory, and also forward the phone number over to mine. I went in and set a filter for To address, [email address] as level 1 messages, and set up my profile to crank Korn's "Coming Undone". That ought to wake me up!

Here is how you set the email to prompt you for level 1 alert.
On your Blackberry open your messages application. Select the message that you want to come in as level 1. Press the Options button (button left of the trackball). Select Filter Subject and press the trackball.
Type in a Filter name
Scroll down to Sent directly to me and press your space bar to put a check mark in that field
Scroll down to CC: to me and press your space bar to put a check mark in that field
Scroll down to Bcc: to me and press your space bar to put a check mark in that field
Scroll down to Action and change it to Forward
Scroll down to Forward with Level 1 Notification and press the space bar to put a check mark in that field
Press your Options button and select Save

Now you can change the way the Level 1 will alert you by going into the Profiles application, Advanced, Level 1 Messages.

I don't have "Filter Subject" on my Options menu in messages.

Neither do I. I'm glad someone brought this thread back to life though. I have played around with this but found no option that has worked.

the only way to do what you need is to set that sender as a Level 1 message as described above. You said it didn't work, but it should once you get it set correctly. Go to your BIS site, filters, etc.

Done it multiple times trying many different filter options. It wasn't anything super important. I just thought it might make things a bit simpler.
