Default Editing and Uploading contacts list to BB 7520..

Please Login to Remove!

I just purchased my BB 7520 (Nextel) recently and was wondering what I might need to edit my contacts list and send it to the BB. I've already purchased the cable for it and have the Desktop Manager Software. But I'm unsure of where to go in the application to perform this task. Sorry if this is a newbie question but any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. I have all the contacts that I wanna send to the phone stored in Microsoft Office and I'm about ready to pull my hair out at this point, lol.

If you have all the contacts in your Outlook Contacts all you need to do is install the Blackberry desktop software and sync with the device.

Yes, make sure the contacs are in Outlook - for Nextel ID's, use the Radio field and add the whole number 123*123*123

Supposedly you can use the Nextel Online "My Address Book" feature. I had it as part of my web package on my old phone. When I went to buy the Blackberry 7520 last week, they told me to first go home and upload my contacts from my old phone to Nextel Online. (Even if you don't have the Address Book feature, you can add it - the web site mentions some one-time fee if you just want to use it to transfer contacts to a new phone. Otherwise it's $4.99/mo). So I did that - uploaded my contacts - and went back and got the Blackberry. I came home, updated my Nextel Online account with my new SIM number and phone info, and tried to access the Address Book. I discovered that my new Blackberry plan no longer included the Address Book. So I called Nextel and added it to my account. Then, supposedly, it should have worked - I should have then been able to log in and see my contacts, and send them to my Blackberry from the Nextel web site.

Unfortunately for me, the web site gave me an error every time I tried to access my address book, and by the time tech support replied to me 4 days later, I had already manually entered my entire contact list.

Maybe you will have better luck! Supposedly it is possible. I also read on the Nextel site that you can ask your local Nextel dealer to do it for you, for a fee. Not sure what the fee is...

Good luck!

Wirelessly posted (your electric?: BlackBerry7520/4.0.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 UP.Browser/5.0.3.3 UP.Link/5.1.2.12)

Apparently for nextel there is a converter for the BB that will take your contacts from your iden phone to your BB. Its all over hofo, don't know if its on here yet, but should be available, check out the RIM forum at hofo for some more info.

I did the address book thing with nextel yesterday

I had to reactivate my old I830 and send contacts through the nextel site after that you then can export them to a BB file once you do that it then tells you how to add it and convert it after that I called nextel and switched back to my BB

Hope this helps

This is the most commonly described method that I have been able to find. However, there are several issues and questions I have with this method.

I have upgraded from a Nextel i830 to the 7520. SOME of my contacts are on both Outlook AND the i830 SIM. NONE of my Outlook contacts have DC numbers entered.

I want to somehow MERGE the two lists.

Moto's Phone Book Manager only lets you save the file as a database file, not a CSV file. But Outlook can import both types. My issue is that upon importing, you must map the fields.

The problem is that the i830 list has a seperate listing for each number that I had for a contact. For example, a contact has a home, office, DC, etc. number. This shows up as seperate listings in the i830 database. Outlook brings in each as a SEPERATE contact entry. It DOES NOT merge the fields for each contact.

Has anyone actually gone through what I am trying to do?

BTW, the old i830 SIM has been deactivated.

Thanks

Just quoting myself because this was the fastest and easiest way to do this at the time

But I now hear you can put your I830 sim into your BB with newest software and then copy it after that put in your BB sim and copy it there

Default BB 7520 not synching all contacts with Outlook

I was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem?

It seems to work fine but I will get a call on the radio from another user and just the ID comes up so therefore I do not know who it is. Not really a big deal but a little un-professional if I have to ask who it is. I've checked Outlook and the radio ID is there but not in BB. It doesn't even recognize that I have added the ID.

The unit is a BB 7520/Nextel
V4.0.0.160

Thanks in advance for the help.
