I'm just jumping into being a BB user and have a couple of basic questions on data usage pertaining mainly to a BES environment.

1. Is it reasonable to assume that a "typical" email (w/o attachments) is about 25 KB and therefore I can expect to transfer (on average) about 40 emails per 1 MB?

2. How much data 'overhead' does the BES server put on data usage in syncing files and folders? Will this eat significantly into my monthly data plan/usage?

3. Also - I'm interested in using the BB Maps (not the paid-for online GPS service) and I'm wondering what (ongoing) data loading this requires (for very occasional usage)?

To answer your first question, emails are sent to Blackberry devices in 2kb 'chunks'. When users click 'more' or have their device set to 'auto more', another 2kb is sent to the device. Attachments will eat more data.

As for the others, someone else will have to chime in with their experiences.
