here is the situation, I will be getting a new curve in the next day or so, I have an 8700c. Also during this time I have gotten a new computer that I have not connected the 8700c to. I have info on the 8700c that I want to transfer to the computer before I go to the curve. Do i need to do a full install of the 8700c or can i connect and it will transfer numbers, names, etc. for me.

FYI if this would make a difference, When I switched computers, it was to a new company, so the 8700c is still connected with the old company and old computer and the curve will be for the new computer

Just install the Desktop manager (4.2 SP2 is what I recommend) to the new computer. Then backup the 8700 and restore to the new BB. Or you can use the switch device wizard.

What Info do you need transferred to the computer? Are you syncing with Outlook?

main thing is syncing outlook, i have added a lot of names, numbers, etc. As i have not synced since october. would that change your answer

Can't you just sync your old BB to your new computer, thus updating your Calendar, To-Do List, Notes, and Contacts?

And then sync your new BB with your new computer?

Yup. That's what I would do. Just make sure that on the first sync the handheld exports into Outlook. Then after that, just sync it normally.

Wonder if there is an IT policy set from the old company that would prevent the 8700 from being used with the new company. He did not indicate if there was one or if the old company removed the BB from their servers.
