Default Which BlackBerry?

Hi guys,

A few kind members answered some of my questions yesterday. I still need detailed information about BB's. Is there a website that explains everything about these devices?

I am trying to find a device that does the following...

unlimited voice memo recording
saves multiple music files (WMA, RA, MP3)
connects to your computer without a USB connection
Has GPS with detailed voice instruction

The 8310 (Curve GSM) and 8130 (Pearl CDMA) should do all of these for you. I would recommend getting a microSD card for it so that you're not using the devices memory to save files to.

Connecting to your computer without USB would be done via Bluetooth, so your computer would need a Bluetooth receiver in it / attached to it. If you're looking for synchronization of information while you're away from home (beyond that of just push email), you'd have to run your own BES (which is free for 1-user license)

Hope this helps.

Default Thanks Alot Nedzalife

Thank you Nedzalife. You were very helpful. I've been looking for the information you provided me with for a verrrry long time. It's hard to make such a determination, as to what bb device has these functions just by looking on the their websites. In addition, the sprint people are not that knowledgeable about it anyway.

No problem. Just keep in mind one thing. One feature you were looking for was voice turn GPS directions. While the 8310 and 8310 have GPS built in, the Blackberry Maps software that RIM made to use this chip does NOT have turn by turn directions (maybe it was added in OS4.3 on the 8310, not too sure, but dont' count on it), however, I know some cell phone vendors have made their own software for these units that do provide the voice directions, and I beleive there are other 3rd party apps that will provide this functionality for you.

Also forgot to mention that the 8830 (CDMA) and the 8800 (GSM) series have GPS chips in them as well and also have the same GPS out-of-the-box limitations mentioned above

Mind you that several of those functions will require a third party application and or are not native to the BB OS itself.

For instance the voice turn direction, you will need TeleNav which does cost extra for a monthly fee. I believe Nav4All is free, but TeleNav still ranks #1 in being the most user-friendly and intuitive of the GPS applications.

Default You guys are very helpful

You guys are experts. Very informative.

I will search for the softwares that can be downloaded on the 8130 and 8310 in regards to GPS with voice directions.

I was wondering in regards to the types of music files that 8800 and 8830 can support. It's such a hassle having to reformat the WMA and RA files to become MP3's.

I was gonna search for an arm band for these phones so I can use them while working out.

Thank you guys!

Here's a list of supported and unsupported audio formats:

Supported Audio Formats
MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 Layer 3 (.mp3)
AAC/AAC+/eAAC+ (.m4a or .aac)
MIDI (.mid or .smf)
AMR-NB (.amr)
WAVE (.wav)
Windows Media Audio (.wma)
WMAPro - 16 bit, stereo output configuration (.wma)
Note: Windows Media Audio and WMAPro are supported in BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1 and above.

Unsupports Audio Formats
MPEG-1 Layer 1 & 2
MPEG-2 Layer 1 & 2
Real Audio (.ra)

Looks like RA is unsupported by default, however, 3rd party applications may support this format (Xplayer?)
