Default Not Receving Text Messages on BB7520 NEXTEL

Please Login to Remove!

I used to receive Text Messages on my BB 7520; I returned from vacation about 10 days ago and have not been receiving text messages since!!!

I am able to send MMS; however i am not able to receive messages from friends!

I called nextel and they had me reset my MMS services and restart my phone but to no avail!

Could it be that my SMS is not functioning? How can check that or test that?

well SMS is different than MMS. MMS is a function of the data plan SMS is the voice plan. Try doing an OS update for the SMS, for the MMS send yourself one first and see if you receive it

Wirelessly posted (NakedBerry: BlackBerry7520/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/103)

Nextel's messaging has never been considered very reliable. Huge delays are often experienced. SMS isn't even an option on the Nextel Blackberrys. It can only do MMS.

Hi
There are a couple of things you can try.
Send a text to yourself. Does it send ok but still not receive?

Message center (service center for americans). Every phone (even bb's and iphone's) has a message center. This is where ur texts are sent on the network before they are sent elsewhere .
Its found in Options > sms > service center. - I'm using an 8120
It should show somethign like +4478.... or americans ..em +1xxxxx
phone your provider and ask them for you message center for pay monthly.

Lastly , create a text to yourself and write *0# - this is a network dependend delivery report. Again check with your provider if they support delviery reports.

if all else fails , put your sim in another handset from that network and try sending and recieving a text

(can you guess i work for a uk network?)

good luck

I was under the impression that the 7520 did not do text messaging. Clearly this is not the case if you guys were receiving them, however. Isn't there a Nextel Blackberry that doesn't do SMS?

And before OS 4.1 the sender of the text wouldn't be identified, so you didn't know who sent you a message that said "Can we hook up tonight?" Haha!

Default Still Not Able to receive SMS!!!!

I seem to have tried everything I can!

I reinstalled the software and had to get my company's TO staff to reactivate my phone!!! I have been blacklisted now hahah

In my mind and based on what I have read there are still 3 possibilities

1- Possible config issue with my phone - could try a different handset
2 - Nextel network issue
3 - Our admin cancelled SMS service, so therefore I can send and receive MMS but not MMS hence my ability to receive texts from Nextel!

I have also heard that there is some kind of online inbox where text messages are recieved and I can check that inbox! I however need to have the account admin's permission!!!

Any ideas, suggestions, strategies, I am so annoyed I wish I could change service.
