Here's how you wipe the BB.

Did you download and install the Desktop Manager to your PC? (Sorry just clarifying)

I downloaded 4.1 which is what's on my phone and it says it can't connect to the device (in bb manager). Do I need to have the phone on a particular setting?

Try removing 4.1 and installing 4.2 SP2.

Also, are you on a full power USB port? Have your tried another port?

t T-Mobile recommends desktop software v.4.0, but I would think a newer version of the desktop software would work as well. If the newer 4.2 SP2 doesn't work you might give the older 4.0 a try before wiping the Blackberry. Thatzmister2u had a good point with the USB port. You might have to tell the desktop software which port to look for. I recall something like that, but I'm a Mac user primarily and only use my ThinkPad for OS updates. It's at the office right now.
