Hi there! I just bought a Blackberry 7250 from Verizon with the 10Megs package for personal use. What should I do first? What software I should install/remove? What configurations do I have to change etc? Please let me know. This thing is neat. Thanks

Better watch out on the data usage! 10 megs may sound like a lot, but you don't want to get slammed with a huge bill at the end of the month. You may want to look into an unlimited plan, not sure what the difference in cost is. Nextel has a 3meg plan for $34.95 and unlimited for $44.95. The $10 more is worth it!

In answer to your question though, there are a lot of good apps out there. PocketDay is a great organizer type app and isn't very expensive, especially for what it does. BBToday is another organizer type app that is free. There is a thread about the Blackberry Messenger that is a fun app to use for pin to pin messaging. There are some free games out there that are fun as well, do a search and you should be able to find where to get them from.

A lot of the apps have a trial period so you can try before you buy. It all depends on what you're looking for. Just remember though, if you download apps OTA it's coming off your 10 megs of data, along with all your email and other web surfing.

On Verizon, you can dial #DATA and receive a message telling you how much data you have used since your last bill. With a 10 meg plan, you will want to check your use regularly to make sure that you don't go over. I have used over 4 megs in the last 9 days - while I was on vacation and not doing any major web surfing. You may want to look at the unlimited plan.

Just out of curiousity is it ACTUALLY unlimited, or is it 25MB like the rogers "unlimited" data plan...

I've never gotten any overage charges and have gone over 25 meg in a month.

I am on the Verizon 10MB plan too, and I did the math, and if you use under 12MB's of bandwidth a month, your better off on the 10MB plan and paying the overages stated in the contract ($0.01 per KB) but if you use over 12MB's of bandwidth a month, your better off on the Unlimited plan. Also, as other people mentioned, regularly check your data usage either online or by calling #DATA (it's airtime free) and sends a free text message to your device of your data usage.

EDIT: My estimate above was being on the safe side, the real point is probably closer to 12.5MB's.

I am on a Vodafone 5MB Plan, but these 5MB only include Email-Traffic, and with roundabout 50Mails a day, i use about 2.5MB, so the mails shouldn´t be a problem if you don´t do a lot of messaging/surfing
