Default Moving from Mail Connector to Redirector

Please Login to Remove!

I got my infamous email from ATT today saying that I have to move my business email account from Mail Connector to another function. After unsuccessfully trying the Blackberry Internet Service (that's why I had used Mail Connector in the first place), I made the move to the Redirector. It appears to be working correctly, but here are my questions:

1) Will the Redirector always have to be open for business emails to be forwarded properly? If so, I need to leave my computer on all of the time, correct?

2) My personal accounts seem to continue functioning correctly as I had them set up on Blackberry Internet Service. The Redirector isn't affecting them at all, correct?

3) I noticed my business emails are no longer showing up in my Blackberry in my Business Email inbox but is rather going to the generic Messages folder. Is there any way to change that?

4) I notice my Redirector currently says Pending to Device = 1; Time since Last Device Contact 24 min, 10 sec. How often is it supposed to contact the device?

1. If you use redirector, your PC must be on and logged onto the network to get your business email. If the PC reboots, you most likely will not be able to get that email until you log yourself back onto your network and into the email account. One of the dangers of using redirector, I am afraid to say.

Just curious, but why can't you use BIS? IMHO, BIS is much more reliable than redirector.

2. Redirector shoudl have no affect on BIS accounts.

3. All mail goes into the general messages folder. I don't know of any way to change it.

4. No answer for that one.

I finally got BIS to work. When I first set it up over a year ago, and gave up on manually entering the details of my business email Inbox, I got lazy and used Mail Connector. But after going through several iterations, I have now found the following to work for me under BIS manual configuration:

1) My "Outlook Web Access URL:" began with https rather than http

2) I omitted my domain under User ID, even though it's required when I get my email on the website.

3) I left "Mailbox Name" blank.

Now, BIS works like a charm and I no longer have to keep my computer turned on!
