Default T-Mobile HotSpot@Home renamed to Talk Forever Mobile, $9.99 monthly charge

Please Login to Remove!

As reported by Engadget Mobile a week ago, T-Mobile will be renaming their HotSpot@Home service to Talk Forever Mobile. A few more details have surfaced since then. The price will be reduced from $19.99 per month to $9.99 per month. This will launch on February 6.

That should add a pile of users of UMA. Lets hope they can handle the load!

Not only is H@H easy to remember, it implies the right thing. "Talk Forever Mobile" sounds a whole lot like you could talk forever for that price while you're mobile. Good luck explaining that to a non-techie.

I thought the recent outages were blamed on too many users trying to use UMA. Did they really add that much more capability that they can permanently knock it down to 9.99?

Yep! This may sway me to the 8120, whenever it gets released.

IF I'm not mistaken, I believe they are adding a separate arm to their H@H service.

what this is allowing, is you can plug your home phones into the new T-mobile routers, port your home phone to T-mobile, and put that sim into the router. This will allow you to talk on your home phone, with your home #, but make unlimited calls for $10/month extra.

pretty sweet

Darn, this means I went with the wrong device and should have gotten a 8320 instead of a 8310. For $10 I would get the plan but I wasn't going to pay $20 on top of my current charges. Any news on family plans?

It is being renamed is all the information released so far. H@H, from what the press release says, wont exist anymore. Granted you may be exactly right, but only time will tell.

Ha! So, they told me about that hotspot at home. Is it really hot? Should it be that hot? Is there a fire risk? How large the spot is? What can it be used for? I have heated car seats, do I need to pay extra for hot spot and why?

I think you've got the idea.

TalkForewer is self explanatory. Well, you are telling me that for $9.99 I can talk forewer, no extra fees? Sign me in!

I think its a GREAT idea (to drop the price again LOL) but to re-name it.

Hot Spot@Home was CONFUSING! T-Mobile already has a "Hot Spot" plan, now you have two.

I'm not even kiddin', but a few times when I called customer care rep about the "@home" service, they would always get confused about the other Hot Spot plan.

You can't call it the UMA, or WIFI, or VOIP plan, cause well msot people out there, are technical savy.

Talk Forever Mobile is more appealing. I think its a good thing.

Any idea if this service H@H or the new one is available currently in the UK for T-Mobile customers?
Thanks
Mike

I was speaking with a T-Mobile second tier customer service rep last night and asked about the new H@H service. He said that unlike the current version, the new "Talk Forever Mobile" service *requires* the use of a T-Mobile router and will not work on another "generic" router. To me, this sounds terribly limiting.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

The Tmobile Website has it listed now (temporarily?) as HotSpot@Home Talk Forever Mobile. With a Family Time Ultra plan, I did a fake order and had to add $9.99 for each phone.

So it looks like they've actually price increased for those on a family plan.
