Default Newbie Needs Help

I just got a 7520 from a friend of mine. I have a nextel ic402. I switched out the Sim and NOTHING. I dont want the data right now just the direct connect and my phone. What should I do?

Is the 7520 a Nextel device? If not, then there is nothing you can do. It won't work. Incompatible technologies

My friends tell me that Nextel controls the direct connect to prevent a different phone from working than the one listed on the account. Might be the issue
