Anyone else having problems with the Blackberry Messenger giving the dreaded:

"Decryption failure. Please regenerate key."

I get this every time I send a message to the one contact I have added so far. I'm on a 7290 with a BES, using Desktop S/W 4.0.1.10 and handheld s/w 4.0.0.219. I get the error after I send a message. I see some communication arrows going back and forth, and then I get the error.

I bought this Blackberry new, so there are no remnants from a former user. No problems with e-mails, browsing, etc.

I just did some testing with someone else from this list (thanks jrios). I seem to be getting the Decryption Error when I communicate with one specific person on my contact list. Weird!

OK, I'm having this problem now. I have been using BB Messenger for a few months now without and issue. Today, I was trying to add someone new and I have been getting this "decryption failure" message.

I'm using a 7100t on T-Mobile (no BES).

The knowledge base article in rca420's post suggested doing a "Regenerate Encryption Key", but I don't even have that option on my phone when I click in the Services section of Security (as directed). The other suggested scenarios in that article do not work in my case.

Does anyone know if it's the other person's phone or is it mine? What is causing this? and how do I work around this?

I have attributed such performance to antenna-related issues and replaced the device. It was mostly supposition, but I was able to test.
I used a spare device and swapped SIM cards, if the same unit keeps getting those errors I would call it a bad antenna...

We had that problem with emails from one of our users who had his Notes client set to encrypt everything he sent. BlackBerrys were unable to read stuff he sent from Notes.

See, now that is funny...not sure why, but anything with Notes is usually "funny"
